A. Call to Order
Board President Gina Paulsen called the meeting to order at 6:30 AM.
B. Roll Call and Declaration of Quorum
All board members were present with the exception of Vice President John Beck.  Director Richard Radtke left the meeting prior to agenda item M.

    a. Financial Statements
    Board Secretary/SBO Aaron Giese provided the board with commentary on the school financials including receipts and expenditures, fund balances, and upcoming items to look for.

    Board Secretary/SBO Aaron Giese highlighted some invoices and expenditures for the month and answered questions posed by board members.

  4. Reports by Administration
    a. Superintendent
    Superintendent Wade Riley updated the Board on a number of items including the ongoing construction at both the Paullina and Primghar sites, summer projects, mentoring, activity passes, and upcoming dates to look for.
  5. Recognition of Staff, Students and Patrons
    The Board recognized the following baseball and softball athletes for earning War Eagle All-Conference honors:
    1st Team: Jinger Nieuwenhuis, Brooklyn Edwards, Ben Woodall
    2nd Team: Abby Nelson, Mitchell Enger
    Honorable Mention: Reese Farquhar, Damian Villarreal

  8. Consider Approval of Sale of Basketball Shooting Machine Bids
    Three bids were received in the amount of $888, $551, and $425 respectively.

  2. Consider Approval of Football Scoreboard Bids
    No bids were received.  The scoreboards will be readvertised.
  3. Consider Approval of Providing Free Breakfast for All SO’ Students in FY25

  4. Consider Selection of IASB Priorities and Resolutions
    The Board selected Private School Choice, Area Education Agencies, Mental Health, School Safety, and Student Achievement as their IASB priorities for the 2025 legislative session.

  7. IASB Information
    The Board discussed the 2024 IASB annual meeting which will be held in Des Moines this November.
    L. Talking Points
    The Board discussed providing free breakfasts for all students again this upcoming school year, and thanked the South O’Brien Athletic Boosters and Music Boosters for once again providing free activity passes for all 7-12 students.
    M. Consider Closed Session Pursuant to Iowa Code 21.5(1)(a): To review or discuss records which are authorized by state or federal law to be kept confidential.

Motion to approve the readmittance of the student who was the subject of the closed session to the South O’Brien Community School District effective July 17, 2024.
