Wolverines lose tough one to Trinity Christian

The Wolverines were up 7-5 over Trinity in the fourth inning on Wednesday May 22 at Paullina, but could not hold on and found themselves coming out with a 14-10 loss. Seven errors for the home team was not good. Three of the seven errors were bunched up in the fifth inning allowing Trinty to take a 10-7 lead and never look back.
Brooklyn Edwards pitched for the first 4-1/3 innings and was doing fine through four, but the Trinity batters started getting on to her in the fifth as she was facing them for the third time. She took the loss giving up eight runs (six earned), striking out one and walking two. Tawni Wulf came in for 1-2/3 innings and gave up five runs (one earned), walked three and hit one batter. Addison Hedberg finished the last 1-1/3 innings and gave up one earned run, walked one and struck out one.
The Wolverines could only muster five hits in the game, compared to 15 for the Tigers. Abby Nelson hit a triple, had an RBI and scored two runs. Lindsey Einck had a single and two RBI’s and her pinch runner Avery Halverson scored a run. Edwards had an RBI single. Reese Farquhar ripped a hard shot off the pitcher’s leg and scored a run. Jinger Nieuwenhuis hit a base hit and her courtesy runner Kelsee Warnke scored two runs and recorded two stolen bases.
