#5 RSM too much for Wolverines

By Coach Heather Struve
Remsen St. Mary’s is loaded in all three parts of the game. They have offensive power, clean defense and a great pitcher. The May 22 War Eagle Conference game at Paullina ended after four innings with a 12-0 win by the fifth-ranked Hawks.
Jinger Nieuwenhuis recorded the lone hit for the Wolverines. In comparison, the Hawks had 10 hits. The Wolverines kept it close in the first two innings, holding RSM scoreless in the first inning and only allowing one run in the second. But the second time through their lineup they started really seeing the ball and making hard contact. They scored four times in the third and crossed the plate seven more times in the fourth.
Brooklyn Edwards started the game and went three innings, allowing nine runs (eight earned), walking two and striking out none, while taking the loss. Addison Hedberg and Tawni Wulf combined to give up three runs, all of them earned, walking two and striking out one to finish the game. The defense committed three errors, but the big thing is that RSM just pounded ball after ball to the outfield with hard line drives. There was not much we could do.
