Mill Creek Lake Rental Shack

by Mari Radtke
Work is underway for the improvements to a unique building at Mill Creek Park near Paullina. The improvements, funded in large part by O’Brien County Community Foundation Grant, give new life to a building that has not been used in over a decade. The structure’s architecture is reminiscent of a lighthouse, and made of brick, making it a good candidate for upgrades and reuse. It will be used for as “The Rental Shack” where kayaks, canoes and potentially other recreational toys can be rented. The tenant for the 2024 season is Paullina Hardware.
The concrete apron surrounding the Rental Shack is being expanded. A foot cleaning station and rinsing shower is being installed nearby. The upgrade includes a new roof to the structure and good water drainage from the shower and foot cleaning area away from the new cement. The improvements add convenience for accessing additional fun at Mill Creek Lake.
