On February 20th, the South O’ Brien FFA chapter officer team attended the Ag Outlook Conference and Trade Show at the fairgrounds in Spencer for the Ag Outlook FFA Chapter competition. For this competition, each chapter put together a presentation of their activities for the past year. Each presentation was shared with the other chapters and then voted on by the other chapters. The chapter was awarded a $100 prize from the Spencer Chamber of Commerce for placing 3rd. The Okoboji FFA placed first and Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 2nd.
Also at the Ag Outlook, the chapter was presented a $100 dollar check by Troy Leininger from the Clay County Farm Bureau for helping with Grandpa’s Barn at the Clay County Fair.
While at the trade show, the officer team also had time to explore the ag business booths. Ag Outlook hosted many different companies to show the advancements within the Ag industry. The companies set up booths to show off their products to the many visitors. Some companies brought in machinery such as combines, tractors, and sprayers. South O’ Brien Chapter President Caden Wittrock stated “ I found the new Hagie sprayer they had on display the most interesting. Seeing all the new technology they have on the equipment is very interesting.”
