Season ends for Wolverine girls with tourney loss to Boyden-Hull
Offensive struggles in the first half cost South O’Brien in the end. The Wolverines scored only nine points before halftime and eventually lost 55-34 to Boyden-Hull in a Class 1A Region 4 opening round tournament game played February 8 at Hull. This concludes the season for South O’Brien which finishes with a record of 4-18.
The Comets showed consistency on offense, scoring between 12 and 15 points in each of the four quarters. The visitors had trouble getting off shots in the first half and when they did, the ball more often than not didn’t find the basket. They were also unable to come up with offensive rebounds. As a result, Boyden-Hull took a 26-9 lead into halftime. Things improved offensively for the Wolverines in the second half but they couldn’t make enough defensive stops to get back into the ball game.
Unofficial scoring for the Wolverines showed Reese Farquhar with 11 points, Marissa Ebel with six, Abby Nelson, Lindsey Einck and Chloe Hustedt with five apiece and Jaylah Jackson with two. No other stats were available at press time.
This marked the final game for Marissa Ebel, the lone senior on the Wolverine team.
