A tiebreaker was all that stood between Sheldon/South O’Brien and a winning day as the Orabs competed in a wrestling quadrangular January 30 at Sioux City North. The Orabs beat the host Stars 46-24 but lost to Woodbury Central 55-24. The dual with Storm Lake ended in a 42-42 tie. The tiebreaker fell in favor of the Tornadoes, giving them a 43-42 win. Sheldon/South O’Brien was open at four weights: 106, 113, 120 and 150.
The Orabs actually benefitted from a diminished roster in the win over Sioux City North. Winning by forfeit were Josh Hoffmann at 126 pounds, Dominic Rounds at 132, Cole Cox at 138 and Zach Brinkman at 285. Recording pins were Kolt Roos at 175, Jarrett Roos at 190 and Landon Sietstra at 215. At 165 pounds Mitchel Fischer won by technical fall. A team point was taken away from the Orabs due to unsportsmanlike conduct.
In the decisive loss to the Wildcats, Jarrett Roos and Sietstra each won by fall. Winners by forfeit were Fischer and Brinkman.
The Storm Lake dual saw Sheldon/South O’Brien win all but two of the matches that were decided on the mat. Orabs who pinned an opponent were Fischer, Kolt Roos, Jarrett Roos, Sietstra, Brinkman and Devin Van Regenmorter at 157 pounds. Hofmann won by forfeit.

District Wrestling Tourney is February 10
Sheldon/South O’Brien will be one of eight teams competing at the Class 2A District Wrestling Tournament being conducted Saturday, February 10 at Sioux Center high school. The action begins at 10:00 a.m. Joining the Orabs at the site are MOC-Floyd Valley, OABCIG, Sergeant Bluff-Luton, Sioux Center, Spirit Lake Park, West Lyon and Western Christian. The champion and runner-up in each weight class will advance to the State Tournament which will be held February 14-17 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
