Strong second quarter propels Wolverine boys past Harris-Lake Park
South O’Brien outscored Harris-Lake Park 22-5 in the second quarter on the way to a 62-46 victory January 20 at Lake Park. The game had been rescheduled from January 9 due to the wintry weather. With the win, the Wolverines improved to 10-3 on the season.
David Bottjen’s all-around strong game featured 19 points, six rebounds, five steals, three assists and two blocked shots. Willie Conley contributed 15 points, Ben Woodall 10, Derek Paulsen seven, Caden Wittrock six, Justice Frerk and Aaron Funkhouser two apiece and Jaden Kreber one. Woodall grabbed six rebounds and Conley five.
South O’Brien went 22-for-47 from the field to shoot 47 percent. That included six treys in 19 tries from long range. The Wolverines converted 12 of 21 free throw attempts. They were guilty of 10 turnovers.
