A vacant property at 180 2nd St. SW in Primghar has hope for renewed use. The property is owned by the City of Primghar. The city acquired the property via quitclaim deed in June 2023. The original plan was to tear down the property.
A company out of Sheldon, Iowa, AANDD Purchasing, stepped forward and proposed to purchase the property from the city for $1.00 and costs of real estate transfer. The company, which has a history of similar transactions, would rebuild the property into a rental unit. As part of the agreement, if irreparable damage is found in the bones of the house, the City Council agreed to accept the return of the building. AANDD Purchasing would pay those transfer costs and have no more obligation to the property.
A public hearing on the sale of the property to AANDD Purchasing is scheduled for Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 5:00pm at City Hall.
