Paullina City Council Meeting

The Paullina City Council met in regular session on October 16th, 2023 in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 127 S Main St, Paullina, Iowa. Mayor Brenda Ebel Kruse called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. & led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call. Council Members present: Steve Heeren, Carol Honkomp, Jay Jones, Jean Unrau. Lexy Murphy arrived at 5:50 pm. Mayor Ebel Kruse declared a quorum.
Also present: City Clerk Michelle Wilson, Police Chief Nathan Bremer, Fire Chief Ryan Harper and Ambulance Director Lauri Struve who arrived at 5:37. Guests: Marlin Sjaarda, Nelda Werkmeister, Dennis Werkmeister, Candy Hahn, John Hahn, Mike Hohbach, Glenda Heithus, Jay Bootsma, Sharon Johnson, Melinda Hansen, Ben Eldridge, John Ihle, and Nichole Jacobs.
Motion by Honkomp; second by Unrau to approve agenda as presented. All ayes. Absent: Murphy. Motion carried.
Motion by Unrau; second by Honkomp to approve 10/02/23 regular meeting minutes. All ayes. Absent: Murphy. Motion carried.
Motion by Unrau; second by Jones to approve claims. All ayes. Absent: Murphy. Motion carried.
Motion by Unrau; second by Honkomp to approve the East Broadway and Maple St site for the proposed new EMS building. Ayes: Honkomp, Jones, Unrau. Nay: Heeren. Abstain: Murphy. Motion carried.
Motion by Heeren; second by Honkomp to allow John and Candy Hahn 2 weeks (October 30th) to either remove unlicensed trailers or legally license said trailers per nuisance violation. All Ayes. Motion carried.
After much discussion, motion by Jones; second by Heeren to amend Ordinance 7.03 Planting Restrictions to allow planting trees in the “Parking” per permit and restrictions. (1st reading) Roll call vote: Ayes: Heeren, Honkomp, Jones, Murphy and Unrau. Nays: none. Motion carried. 1st reading is recorded.
Motion by Heeren; second by Murphy to amend Ordinance No. 10 to remove permits/fees for golf carts. (1st reading) Roll call vote: Ayes: Heeren, Honkomp, Jones, Murphy and Unrau. Nays: none. Motion carried. 1st reading is recorded.
Motion by Murphy; second by Unrau to adjourn meeting at 7:24 pm. All ayes. Meeting adjourned.
