Building Better Birders
Tuesday October 10 at the Prairie Heritage Center you can experience the world of birding. Birding Internationally presentation 3:00-4:30pm, Woodpeckers, Doves, and similar species of Iowa presentation 5:00-6:30pm, Nocturnal Raptors of Iowa presentation 6:45-7:45pm and an Owl Prowl Hike from 8:00-9:00pm. No need to sign up and attend what works for your schedule. All the presentations and hike are conducted by Kelly McKay with funding for this workshop by Resource Enhancement and Protection-Conservation Education Program. Dutch Oven Cooking
The O’Brien County Conservation Board invites the public to Mill Creek Park Lodge October 6 at 6:00pm for cooking with Dutch ovens. Register for your space by calling or email the Prairie Heritage Center. All food will be provided. The event is free and participation of cooking and eating is on the menu. Chili Mac, Stuffed mushrooms and Carmel apple dump cake will be included in the experience. All ages are welcome to attend.
Fall Family Fest
The O’Brien County Conservation Board invites the public to Mill Creek Park October 7 from 4-6:30pm for Fall Family Fest. All ages are welcome to attend and Trick or Treat their way around the campground. Activities include pumpkin atlatls, leaf painting and beaded corn crafts.
Youth Pheasant Hunt
The O’Brien County Conservation Board and O’Brien County Sportsman’s Club invites youth ages 12-15 to Crosbie Wildlife and Youth Education Center on October 21 from 8:00am-1:00pm for a Youth Pheasant Hunt. Register for your space by calling or email the Prairie Heritage Center. Safety training, trap shooting and a live guided pheasant hunt will be covered. Lunch will be provided.
