South O’Brien FFA Members Finish Out Season

South O’Brien FFA members finished out the livestock judging season with a challenging contest at the Clay County Fair.
The contest committee decided to change things up a little for this year’s contest. Besides judging classes of cattle, sheep, swine, and goats, contestants were required to answer forty questions after the live judging over the classes they judged.
With the contest starting at 11 a.m. and lasting two hours and forty-five minutes, the members were more than a bit hungry and went to get some fair food before results were announced.
There were 47 teams competing in the FFA Division and 13 in the 4-H Division.
The FFA team of Austin Negus, Caden Wittrock, Drew Wittrock and Noah Wittrock placed 16th overall and 10th in Beef.
Will Stout, Logan Dau, Hunter Lange and Sarah Puhrmann placed 26th overall as an FFA team.
The 4-H team of Eliot Boardman, Jasper Johnson, and Gabe Moermond placed 4th overall, 4th in Placings, 3rd in Questions, 7th in Beef, 6th in Swine, and 2nd in Sheep/Goats.
Brett Evans, John Puhrmann and Bode Bailey placed 7th overall, 7th in Placings, 7th in Questions, 3rd in Beef, 8th in Swine, and 8th in Sheep/Goats as a 4-H team.
The team members look forward to next season and build on what they learned this season.
