Scott Jacobs

Celebration of life services for Scott N. Jacobs, age 68, who passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at the Veteran’s Hospital in Sioux Falls.  His celebration of life will be at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Primghar with Pastor Mike Cooper ~ officiating.
Burial will be at Roseland Cemetery in Sanborn with military honors presented by the Russell-West Post of the American Legion.
There will be no visitation.
Arrangements are under the care of the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.
Scott Neil Jacobs, the son of Freddie and Orva (Gonnerman) Jacobs was born on October 26, 1954, in Primghar, IA. He graduated from Primghar High School in 1972. Scott enlisted in the Navy in 1973 and spent the next four years serving our country in Pensacola, FL and New Orleans, LA. In 1997, Scott was appointed Deputy Sheriff for O’Brien County and later became Chief of Police for Paullina, IA. Scott married Linda Burns in 1978 and from this union, three children were born: Mike, Daniel, and Becky.   They made their home together in Paullina until their divorce in 1997. From there Scott lived in Michigan, Schleswig, Primghar, and others before making his home in Sioux Falls.
Scott held a variety of jobs, but trucking seemed to be his favorite. After stepping away from trucking, he moved back to Paullina and worked at Mesner’s and Paradise in Paullina. He then made his home in Sioux Falls where he worked as a cook at the Sioux Falls Veterans Hospital until his retirement in 2017. Throughout his retirement, Scott found different ways to keep busy, such as driving truck for the sugar beet harvest in Murdock, MN and working at Happy Jack’s Gold Coin Casino in Sioux Falls.
Woodworking was a favorite hobby as he enjoyed crafting projects in his workshop and was always willing to help anyone interested in it. For the past decade, Scott and Judy Baldridge shared a home in Sioux Falls, SD where they enjoyed their time together, watching Judy’s son’s online service with the First Free Will Baptist Church, attending many activities with family and friends, and taking trips to the casino in Omaha.
Scott was loved by many. He was well-known for sharing a good trucker story or endless tales of his childhood and life, especially when his kids, brothers and family were together. He liked to say that “funny, stubborn and crass was the “Jacobs” way! You take some and you give some, but in the end, there was always love…and old county music!”
Left to cherish Scott’s memory is his best friend, Judy Baldridge of Sioux Falls, SD. He leaves behind his children: Mike Jacobs, Daniel (Nichole) Jacobs, and Becky (Tony) Tjossem, all of Paullina; granddaughters: Kaylee (Thomas Nelson) and Brenna Jacobs, and Hailey Jacobs; brothers Gordy (Beth) Jacobs of Redwood Falls, MN, and David (Cheryl) Jacobs of Rock Valley, IA; his bonus family of Pastor Aaron (Leslie), Jason and his daughter, Kelsey, and Sonja and sons, Ethan and Brecken; along with extended family and friends.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie, and Orva Jacobs, and two brothers, Steve, and Randy Jacobs.
