South O’Brien girls get a little revenge on MMCRU
The third game of the season South O’Brien got throttled by MMCRU 26-5. It was a horrible game to be a part of, but the girls realized how poorly they had played and came out on Wednesday, June 21 at Remsen and won 7-0 over MMCRU and played one of their best games of the year. It was great to see our entire team contribute in some way. Every player was very tuned in the whole game, every pitch, from start to finish.
Shay Hatting pitched the shutout, which was her best game of the season! She gave up just three hits over seven innings, walked one and struck out seven. She was hitting her spots well and threw her change up in at times to keep hitters honest. Our defense had one on our best nights by committing just two errors in the field. Maddie Johnson had a great defensive game at first base!
Marissa Ebel had a bomb that cleared the left-center fence. She also scored three times and drove in three runs. Jinger Nieuwenhuis hit a pair of doubles and had an RBI. Payton Farquhar hit two singles, scored a run and had an RBI. Alyssa Van Beek hit two singles and scored one run. Abby Nelson had a two-run single. Brooklyn Edwards had a base hit, an RBI, and her pinch runner Kelsee Warnke scored once. Johnson also had a single.
