West Sioux blanks South O’Brien in WEC tilt
West Sioux started off well against South O’Brien and finished even better. The Falcons scored four runs in the first inning and then posted seven runs in the fifth and final frame. It was all part of a 14-0 War Eagle Conference victory for the visitors June 5 at Paullina.
The Wolverines were limited to one hit: a double off the bat of Trevor Fiddelke. Gabe Moermond was the beneficiary of a base-on-balls and Mitchell Enger was hit by a pitch. Stifling the home team was Falcon senior hurler Avery Millikan who struck out nine.
It was Fiddelke who took the loss for South O’Brien. He pitched four innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits. Four of the runs were earned. Fiddelke struck out three batters and walked three. Boston Riedemann gave up seven earned runs on three hits and six walks in his one-third of an inning on the mound. Reliever Jaden Kreber tossed two-thirds of an inning which included a pair of strikeouts. The Wolverines had two errors in the game.
