St. Mary’s wins the pitching battle over Wolverines
South O’Brien pitched well in its June 2 contest with Remsen St. Mary’s. Unfortunately for the Wolverines, St. Mary’s pitched better. The result was a 5-0 War Eagle Conference win for the Hawks at Remsen. The loss dropped South O’Brien to 0-2 in the conference and 1-5 overall.
St. Mary’s got a complete game no hitter from Hunter Pick. The junior hurler did walk four batters. Dain Moermond pitched all six innings for the visitors. He allowed only seven hits. Three of the runs were earned. The senior struck out seven Hawk batters and walked four. The defense committed just two errors.
Four separate Wolverines were the baserunners as the result of drawing walks. They were Boston Riedemann, Ben Woodall, Mitchell Enger and Moermond.
