Harper Gains the Experience of Performing with the State FFA Chorus

South O’Brien FFA member, Alyssa Harper, performed with the State FFA Chorus during the morning and afternoon sessions on April 18th of the State FFA Leadership Conference. Alyssa received the music ahead of time, so the practices at State Convention were spent cleaning up those pieces for the Tuesday afternoon performance. As part of the application process, Mrs. Lickiss, the choir instructor at South O’Brien, completed a recommendation for Alyssa.
“I was very excited when I found out I was accepted into the choir.” commented Harper. “I really had to push myself out of my comfort zone to sing with the group, especially since I was the only South O’Brien member in the choir.”
This was the first year participating in the chorus for Alyssa, but she was happy she decided to sing with the group. Harper said she participated in the State FFA choir because she wants others to know that there is a place in our chapter for members with all kinds of talents.
Alyssa said she would recommend other members to take advantage of this opportunity because high school goes fast and it’s good to get involved in many different things.
