Ruby J. Miller – Paullina, Iowa

Ruby Miller

Services for Ruby J. Miller, age 90, of Paullina who passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Prairie View Home in Sanborn. There will be a private family funeral at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.
Burial will be at Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina.
Visitation with family present will be from 4 – 6 P.M. on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.
Ruby Jo Miller, the daughter of Emil and Hilda (Jurgensen) Rehder was born on November 20, 1932, on the family farm southeast of Gaza. She was baptized and confirmed at the Calumet Zion United Church of Christ. She attended grade school in Gaza and graduated from Paullina High School in 1951. On September 6, 1951, she was united in marriage to Eldon Miller at Zion United Church of Christ in Calumet. They made their home east of Paullina and the couple farmed till 1980 and built their home in Paullina. Eldon preceded Ruby in death on August 23, 1991. Ruby married Bill Goosen in 1995 at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. Ruby passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Prairie View Home in Sanborn reaching the age of 90 years, 5 months, and 14 days.
Ruby was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina and involved in the Pairs and Spares. She enjoyed being a farm wife to Eldon by making lunches for Eldon and his helpers. In her past time, she enjoyed coffee and cookies while playing cards with friends, attending activities of the grandchildren, and bowling. She was a member of a local bowling league for many years. Ruby loved being called “Grandma Ruby” and spending time with family and friends. 
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Kristie Appeldorn, grandchildren, Amy (Doug) Daniels, Jenny (Darin) Johnson, Molly Appeldorn, and Jessie (Shane) Beeson; 16 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Curtis (Betty) Rehder; also, other relatives and friends.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Eldon Miller and Bill Goosen, sisters, Erma Gerstandt, Shirley Ebel and Margaret Perry and brother, Burdette Rehder.
