Building Better Birders Workshop
A series of 3 consecutive workshops are scheduled for May 19 and 20. Members of the public are invited to “dive into the world of birding.”
The workshops are designed to give information about bird research, identifying various bird species and includes bird hikes.
The selected locations are renown as bird habitat, hosting birds in big numbers. There is no cost for any of the 3 sessions.
May 19 at 7:00pm, the Prairie Heritage Center, east of Sutherland, presents “Grassland birds of Iowa.” An Owl Hike follows at 8:45pm.
Again at the Prairie Heritage Center on May 20, early risers don’t want to miss the 6:30am bird hike. Following is the presentation, “Human activity and Bald Eagles.” These programs are presented by Kelly McKay of BioEco Research and Monitoring Center with James Wiebler, Nahant Marsh Ed. Center. The program is brought to O’Brien County with REAP funds.
Later at 1:00pm at Mill Creek Park near Paullina enjoy another opportunity to get into nature for a bird hike.
