South O’Brien FFA Members Compete in NW District Floriculture and Nursery/Landscape Contests
Four members of the South O’Brien FFA competed in the NW District Floriculture and Nursery/Landscape contests.
In the Floriculture contest, contestants identified floral plants, demonstrated how to construct a bow for a corsage and took a general knowledge exam covering aspects of floral plant production. The South O’Brien team placed 9th. Dain Moermond commented that “I entered this event last year at Districts and thought it was kind of fun, so I thought I’d give it another try.”
The Nursery/Landscape event included identifying tools and materials used in landscaping, and an exam about landscape plants, materials and design. South O’Brien placed 8th in this contest. “I thought this sounded like it might be kind of fun to try, so we got a few of us guys together and made a team.”
