Patricia J. Jeffers – Primghar, Iowa

Patricia “Pat” J. Jeffers, age 91, of Primghar, Iowa who passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Prairie View Home in Sanborn, Iowa.  Her funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at the United Church of Primghar with Pastor Mike Cooper ~ officiating.
Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Primghar.
Visitation with family present will be from 5 – 7 P.M. on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Primghar.
Patricia Joan Jeffers, the daughter of Dewey and Retha (Edwards) Smidt was born June 8, 1931, in Calumet, Iowa. She moved with her parents to a farm near Primghar, Iowa. Pat attended Highland Country School#2 through the eighth grade and graduated from Primghar High School in 1949. She received her teaching certificate from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, and taught school for two years in Harris, Iowa and 1 year in Sanborn, Iowa. On January 23, 1954, she was united in marriage to Walter G. Jeffers at the Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa. After their marriage the couple settled in Primghar and when Walt’s folks retired the couple moved to the family farm just north of Primghar. The couple farmed for many years and together raised five children. Family was important to the couple. Pat worked at the Primghar Care Center for 9 years as a Certified Nurse Assistant. The couple retired and spent their retirement years on the farm. Walt preceded her in death on November 17, 2013, in Primghar. Pat remained on the farm and in October of 2016 moved to Prairie View Retirement Home in Sanborn. She passed away at Prairie View on Saturday March 18, 2023, reaching the age of 91 years nine months and 10 days.
She was a member of the United Church of Primghar, the Highland Homemakers, a 4H leader, Girl Scout Leader, and taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren, playing cards, bus trips with Walt and friends, watching sports and was a big fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Twins and Timberwolves. The family fishing trips were important both to Walt and Pat which they did for 49 years.
Pat is survived by three children and their spouses, Craig (Annette) Jeffers of Blairsburg, Iowa; Kay (Bill) Skidmore of Omaha, Nebraska and Diane (Derwin) Van Drie of Sheldon, Iowa; 9 grandchildren Christopher Jeffers, Jennifer Jeffers, Nicholas Jeffers, Nathan Skidmore, Paige Skidmore, Cody (Kim) Van Drie, Kyle (Jessica) Van Drie, Kelsey Van Drie, Katie Van Drie; three great grandchildren the fourth coming March 31st; Isla Van Drie, Daniel and Jenessa Hildebrand, two sisters-in-laws Ann Smidt in Colorado and Sharon Jeffers in North Carolina also nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, a son, Charles Jeffers, a daughter, Lynn Jeffers, parents and two brothers, Dudley and Burl Smidt.
