Woodall Competes in Radio Broadcasting Contest at Sub Districts

Ben Woodall participated in the radio broadcasting contest at the NE Sub-District Leadership Contest hosted by the Sioux Central FFA. After competing in this same division two years ago, he challenged himself to place even better this year.
In order to meet rules of the contest, participants in this category must have a broadcast that is five minutes in length, including the 28-32 second commercial of a fictitious product. An actual radio copy is used as event material but it may be edited. Participants are given 30 minutes to prepare for their broadcast in a designated preparation room.
Woodall broadcasted a news story, the weather, an advertisement, and the markets. Woodall said that he really enjoys this competition which is why he has competed in it throughout his high school years. After his bronze rating this year, he plans on competing again next year to try and surpass his previous ratings. Having experience has made it more enjoyable too because he knows what to expect and he doesn’t get as nervous. He recommends this competition to others to take advantage of this FFA experience.
