Primghar Country Estate – Submitted Jay, John, and Gerald went to church services with friends and family on Sunday. Rev. Ken Greeley from the Church o f Christ in Sutherland conducted the afternoon services. Shirley Lenhart arid Luke were also guests. Residents played Pot Luck on Monday, Darlene was the big winner.
Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Ron Stevens attended the Indoor track meet at Vermilion, SD and also Parents’ Day. Daina Powers and Jan were callers Monday morning in the Melverne and Bea Powers home. Jan remained for dinner. Sunday mornin g coffee guests in the home of Bert and Dorothy Va n Heuvelen were their family members. Afternoon guests were Hank and Millie Heimensen.
Care Center News – submitted Visitors Roberta Jones came to visit her father, Bud Munson, on Wednesday. Neet Sheridan stopped in to see her friend, Olga Sheley. Angeline Erkes, Sheldon, Buffy Davis and Ann Robinson were callers of Ed Robinson this week. Harry ad Dorothy Kaiser, Archer visited Arlene Idso, Kathryn DeVries, and Hazel Hagedorn. Keith Iverson and family, Paulllna, were here to visit Ellis Iverson. Laura, Paul arid Renae Strecker called on Kathryn DeVries.

SUMMIT HOMEMAKERS – The Summit Homemakers held their meeting the afternoon of Jan. 25th at Sadie Storm’s home. In spite of the stormy afternoon? ? 11 were in attendance. Emily Waund was “chairman for the day” and brought us news from the county meetingyShe~told of many ways to use soybeans in cooking. We were,.-surprised to hear of the many items we use everyday that use the bean or oil of the commodity which so many of us raise. The drive for new Farm Bureau members is in full swing and we were brought up to date’ as Emily is the county membership chairman. RuralUrban Day will be March 15th, and we were happy to hear that Deb Fink will be our speaker. She will tell what she learned about the ethnic background and role that women play in our society as she analyzed it in the year she spent among us. Deb is presently teaching at Iowa State at Ames.
HONORED ON BIRTHDAY – Saturday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Hadden, a party was held in honor of their son Ted on his 18th birthday. Guests attending the occasion were Connie Hadden and Sue Reimers of Hampton, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Hadden and sons of LeMars, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Fritzsche and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas N. Hadden. Following an afternoon of socializing, birthday cake and ice cream were served.
GFWC O’BRIEN CO. CONVENTION – The GFWC O’Brien Co. Convention will be held March 9, 1983 at the United Methodist Church, 5 Ave. and 8th St., Sheldon. Registration and coffee-will be 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. Reservations for registration and noon luncheon must be made by March 1. The reservations and $4.50 for the luncheon and registration may be sent to Beverly Manfi, 1134 10th St., Sheldon, la. 51201 or to Arlyce Ransom for forwarding to reach Beverly Mann by March 1.

Commanches defeat Bulldogettes 67-44 – With the Bulldogettes getting a bye in the first round of sectionals, they came up against the winners of the Clay Central-Everly game. At 8:00 p.m on Feb. 12, the Bulldogettes went against the Clay Central Commanches on the Everly court. Primghar was defeated by the Commanches who came out on top with a score of 67 to 44.
