Brett Evans Competes in Public Speaking at the NE Sub-District Contest

On February 10, 2023, the NE Sub-District contests were held at Sioux Central High School.
Brett Evans participated in the public speaking contest; it was his first time participating in the competition.
Participants could choose any current subject for their speeches of an agricultural nature including: agriscience & technology, agribusiness, agri-marketing, international agricultural relations, and agricultural communications. Each speech had to be between 6-8 minutes in length.
Brett chose to speak on the topic of the ongoing bird flu infections and how it has affected the chickens, consumers, and production. He chose this because he has chickens of his own and enjoys doing research and talking about the industry.
Evans earned a Bronze rating and placed 6th. While Brett didn’t place as high as he would have liked to in the competition, he enjoyed it and felt it was a great learning experience. He looks forward to doing it again next year knowing what to expect and recommends others take advantage of this FFA experience.
