Winter Funderland Held By County Conservation
Mill Creek Park near Paullina drew a modest crowd Saturday February 11. About 50 kids with family came to enjoy a variety of outdoor and nature related activities. Hot chocolate and popcorn was served inside the lodge. More than 2 dozen bird houses were available for anyone to paint and take home. Bird feeders were also being made. A wire ball smeared with peanut butter and rolled in seeds made for a fun activity for small hands. Plus, they could be taken home and place to attract our winter winged friends.
Outside there was ice fishing on Mill Creek Lake. Bottles of liquid color kept artists busy for hours. The snow painting was a huge hit. So was the sledding. It was warm and sunny, so the snow was a little soft. It didn’t take too long for the sled to firm up a path and let the sled really slide. The snowball slingshot made another appearance this year also.
It was a fun time. Not so crowded this year as last, but still a really great outdoor adventure.
