Coy De Boer Pins Sioux Center’s Landon Rozeboom In Semifinal Action En Route To Repeating As Siouxland Conference Champion.

A pair of wrestlers from Sheldon/South O’Brien earned top spots on the podium following competition at the Siouxland Conference Tournament held February 4 at Sioux Center. Coy De Boer emerged as the champion at 152 pounds and Jarrett Roos remained undefeated on the season (38-0) in capturing the 182-pound weight class.
The Orabs were fifth in the team standings with 129 points. The Siouxland team champion was Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley which totaled 180 points.
De Boer won his quarterfinal match by fall over Sam Gruis of Central Lyon/George-Little Rock in 1:25. He followed that up with a semifinal round pin of Sioux Center’s Landon Rozeboom in 2:40. In the 1st Place Match, De Boer scored a 16-0 victory over Bryce Dodge of (Okoboji/HMS) to win by technical fall in 3:53.
Roos opened against Ethan Pedersen of Central Lyon/George-Little Rock in the quarterfinal round and won by technical fall (17-1) in 2:16. His semifinal match against James Gellerman of Okoboji/HMS ended in 49 seconds with Roos recording a pin. The 1st Place Match extended into a fourth period. Roos was facing Jace Mulder of Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley and came out on top 4-2 in sudden victory-1. It was his second such victory over Mulder in the last two weeks.
Josh Hoffman finished second at 106 pounds, losing the 1st Place Match by a narrow 9-8 margin to West Lyon’s Evan Erpenbach. Eddie Millan reached the 3rd Place Match at 132 pounds where he won by fall over CJ Monroe of MOC-Floyd Valley in 5:23.
Placing fourth were Anthony Escobar at 138 pounds and Zach Brinkman at 195. Winners in their fifth place matches were Kolt Roos at 170 (bye) and Jack Leng at 285 (pin). Sixth place went to 120-pounder Dominic Rounds as well as to Mitchel Fischer, wrestling at 145 and to Tyson Getting, competing at 160.
