Betty Hoger – Paullina, Iowa

Services for Betty Hoger, age 92, of Paullina who passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023, at her residence. Her funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 6, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina with Rev. Donald Meyer ~ officiating.
Burial will be at Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina.
Visitation with family present will be from 4 – 6 P.M. on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.
Elizabeth Jane Hoger, the daughter of Earl and Kathryn (Holmes) Chesley was born on April 2, 1930, in Norfolk, Nebraska. She was baptized on June 16, 1940. She was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church on June 7, 1953. She graduated from Sutherland High School in 1948. On October 3, 1948, Betty was united in marriage to Julius Albert Hoger in Sutherland, Iowa. After their marriage the couple farmed south of Paullina for 2 years then farmed near Royal for 2 years. In 1952, they returned to the farm south of Paullina, where they continued to farm until Julius preceded Betty in death on October 28, 2018. Shortly after, Betty moved into Paullina where she lived until passing away with her family by her side on Monday, January 30, 2023, reaching the age of 92 years, 9 months, and 28 days.
Betty was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She was creative and enjoyed crafting, painting, and sewing. Her house was a showcase of her lovely paintings and other projects throughout the years and her family was blessed with many homemade projects. She enjoyed farming and being a farm wife, loving all the farm dogs, especially Sadie. She was sharp with her smart phone and family and friends enjoyed being able to talk/text/and FaceTime.  It would be no surprise for her to desire to talk politics with the willing and unwilling alike. She had a heart for people and said many times that everyone is a child of God’s and has a place in this world. Betty thoroughly enjoyed being with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Larry (Dee) Hoger of Paullina, Nancy (Bruce) Rogge, Marcy Jo (Alan) Oehmke, both of Palmer, Kansas, and Dee Fritz (Mike Tesch) of Paullina; 40 grandchildren with their spouses; 38 great grandchildren; also, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Julius; three children, Jan, Jane, and Julie (Steve) Grayson, son-in-law, Jay Fritz, and siblings, Ed (Marilyn) Chesley, Cleo (Roger) Hill, and Jim (Betty) Chesley.
