Sunday Free Skate Successful
The inaugural free skate at the Primghar Roller rink brought out an above average crowd. The first free skate fundraiser was held Sunday January 29 at the Primghar Skating rink. The event hosted skaters of all ages from 1:30 TO 3:30. It was sponsored by Northwest Iowa Storage, Terry and Barb Morris.
The idea of the sponsored afternoon is to bring youngsters and families out for some much needed cold weather exercise and fun. Reacquainting people with the availability of the recreation option and find funds to improve the supply of skates are the goals of the series of sponsored free skates.
Over 60 people had participated Sunday by 2:00pm, with more arriving. According to Tanner Hedberg, skate rink manager, that was above average attendance for the current season, which is slightly below last year. Weather is considered the biggest factor for that.
The rink is open Saturdays from 1:30 to 3:30 and 7:30 to 9:30. Private parties are also available by calling 957-2435.
The next free skate is scheduled for Sunday February 19. Savings Bank of Primghar, Hartley and Lake Park is the sponsor.
