Wolverine boys win big over Westwood
A strong first half provided South O’Brien with an 18-point lead over Westwood and the Wolverines went on to record a 77-44 victory December 10 at Sloan. The win allowed the visitors to even their record at 2-2.
The Wolverines got 18 points from both Boston Riedemann and David Bottjen and 16 from Willie Conley. Rounding out the scoring were Hudson Oolman with nine points, Sawyer Honkomp with eight, Dain Moermond and Ben Woodall each with three and Derek Paulsen with two. The 16 assists included five from Riedemann.
South O’Brien outshot the Rebels 48 percent (29-of-61) to 30 percent (17-of-57). The Wolverines made eight of 19 three-point baskets and 11 of 17 free throws. The home team was 5-of-24 from beyond the arc and 5-of-8 at the charity stripe.
The Wolverines pulled down 40 rebounds compared to 24 for Westwood. Leading the way were Conley with 11, Oolman with nine and Bottjen with eight. Bottjen made three steals and Honkomp two. Oolman, Moermond and Bottjen each blocked a shot.
