South O’Brien Marching Band performs at IHSMA festival

The South O’Brien Marching Band performed at the IHSMA festival in Sheldon and the Dutchmen Field Championships in Orange City on Saturday. The band received a Division I rating at Sheldon. They followed up with 2nd place in Class 1A at the Dutchmen Field Championships in Orange City along with the caption award for Best Drum Majors. Drum Majors Grant Wagner and Payton Farquhar earned Best Field Conductors Award. The band also received the Triple S award which is given to the band in each class that along with their fans, best exemplify the Spirit of competition, the Support of the bands and the Sportsmanship shown to others. The South O’Brien Marching band 2022 show is title “The King” with the great music produced by Elvis Presley. The band it under the Direction of Becky Meyer. The color Guard is under the direction of Michelle Aberson.
Mrs. Meyer had this to say about the performances on Saturday “I was very pleased with the entire group’s performance at both events. Each individual on the field gave the best performance they could. Mrs. Aberson and I are very grateful for the crowd that came to support us as well!”
