A trio of South O’Brien runners turned in top-20 finishes as the Wolverines hosted their Cross Country Invitational September 29 at Paullina Golf Club. In the girls varsity race Taja Conley finished eighth and Takara Conley was 13th. On the boys’ side Ben Woodall came in 18th.
The strong showing by the Conleys propelled the Wolverine girls to a fifth-place finish in the team race. South O’Brien scored 146 team points. Elodie Wilson wound up 41st, Abby Stout 58th and Laci Kenney 60th. George-Little Rock/Central Lyon won the meet with a score of 49. Coming in a close second was West Lyon with 51 points.
Sioux Central scored 59 points to win the boys’ team competition, The Wolverines were 10th with a 213 score. Brett Evans placed 48th for the host team. It was a race to the finish among Dominic Rounds, Ethan Schwarz and Ian Oliver. Rounds placed 57th, Schwarz 58th and Oliver 59th. Finishing in 67th place was Bensen Rohwer while Kaleb Buenger came in 72nd.
