Runners from South O’Brien joined those from a large number of schools to compete at the Sibley-Ocheyedan Cross Country Invitational. The meet was conducted September 6 at Sibley Golf & Country Club in Sibley.
Taja Conley finished 13th in the girls race. She was followed by Elodie Wilson in 52nd place, Abby Stout in 71st and Laci Kenney in 74th. With only four runners, the Wolverines were ineligible to score points in the team race, which was won by Alta-Aurelia with a score of 47. That allowed the Warriors to beat out the host Generals, who finished second with a 60 score.
Ben Woodall paced the South O’Brien boys with a 38th-place finish. Brett Evans finished 54th and Ian Oliver 69th. Ethan Schwarz was next in 74th place with Dominic Rounds finishing 77th. Rounding out the Wolverine contingent were Bensen Rohwer who placed 84th and Caleb Buenger who finished 86th. MVAOCOU ran to a 55 score to win the boys team competition. Again, Sibley-Ocheyedan was second. The Generals finished with a score of 70.
