South O’Brien FFA Competes In State Career Development Event

The South O’Brien Biotechnology Team of Lydia Flinders, Abby Stout, Claire Wagner and Payton Farquhar competed against 61 other teams in the State Career Development Event. The individuals completed several activities including a general knowledge exam and an identification activity. The team members also collaborated in a team activity relating to biotechnology principles. South O’Brien placed 22nd overall and earned a Silver rating.
Flinders, Stout, Wagner and Farquahr also represented South O’Brien in the State FFA Farm Business Management Contest. FFA teams from 100 chapters participated in the event with each team member completing an objective test which had three sections: economic principles, records and analysis, and risk management. All team members worked together to solve a problem related to break even analysis. South O’Brien earned a Bronze rating.
