A Red Ribbon cutting was held Friday July 15 recognizing the opening of Friedrichsen Meat Company. The new business started in earnest clear back in September of 2021. It has long been a topic of discussion. Covid brought out the demand for additional meat processing capacity. The circumstances helped move the business from concept to opportunity. Will and his wife, Macey took advantage of the opportunity.
Friedrichsen Meat Company, conveniently located at the intersection of East Southern Street (Highway 10) and South Beech Street in Sutherland, offers retail selections of meat and limited seafood, seasonings and a few interest items. The couple is quick to say that they have access to most anything that a customer may specially request.
The heart of the Friedrichsen Meat Company is butchering services. Beef, pork and lamb butchering is available. They do not have lockers. Retail hours are Wednesday through Friday 8:00am through 4:00pm. Watch Facebook for Saturday or expanded hours in the retail store.
The facility is a former farm service outlet, Sickelka Ag Service. Once the property became theirs, Will and Macey completely gutted the inside. A large walk-in freezer, 2 walk-in coolers with hanging rails and a processing room were all added. The office area was completely remodeled. A slaughter room floor was added. In addition, intake pens for livestock were also installed. Their current processing levels sit at 7 per week.
For shoppers interested in large quantity meat purchases say a quarter beef or pork, Will and ? can connect a producer with market ready animals with a buyer.
