GTRA authors an early ending to win over Wolverines
Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire tallied seven runs in the fifth inning to abruptly wrap up a 14-4 win over South O’Brien June 29 at Ruthven. The Wolverines had scored a run in the top of the inning to trail just 7-4.
Dain Moermond had a 3-for-3 night at the plate which included a triple and an RBI. Pete Bottjen also hit a three-bagger to go along with a walk, two RBI’s and a run scored. Cole Tjossem singled, stole a pair of bases and scored. Trevor Fiddelke singled and also drew a walk. Boston Riedemann walked twice, was hit by a pitch, swiped two bases and scored a run. Kester Grimm walked, stole a base and scored.
Riedemann took the pitching loss. He went 2-1/3 innings, allowing six runs on just one hit. Three of the runs were earned. Riedemann struck out four batters, hit four and walked three. Bottjen’s pitching stint covered 1-2/3 innings. He yielded three earned runs on four hits with four strikeouts and three walks. Fiddelke came on and gave up five runs (three earned) on one hit. He walked three batters and hit two.
