South O’Brien played Harris-Lake Park at home on Monday, June 20th and gave up four early runs to them in the first inning, but came back with seven runs of their own in the bottom of the first to take the lead and never look back in a 16-6 War Eagle Conference tilt. The big hit of the inning was Annika Jenness’ triple to score the first two runs.
HLP got a run across the plate in the second to make the score 7-5 in favor of the Wolverines. In the bottom of the second South O’Brien scored three runs to go up 10-5. HLP got their last run in the third and South O’Brien put up three runs in both the third and fourth innings to take the 16-6 lead.
Abby Schreck was 3-for-3 at the plate with three base hits and three RBI’s. Karlee Warnke was also perfect with a 2-for-2 performance, including a triple and a single, two RBI’s and two runs. Annika Jenness crushed a triple and a double, had three RBI’s and scored three times. Payton Farquhar hit a pair of singles and scored two runs. Alyssa Van Beek bombed out a home run and had three RBI’s. Jinger Nieuwenhuis had a double and Kenna Bauer hit a single.
Grace Fuhrman had a decent night on the rubber, allowing six hits, six runs, of which none were earned, no walks and three strikeouts. Our defense committed seven errors behind her, so we need to clean things up. Fortunately, our bats were doing enough work to get us the win!
