Wolverines battle back twice but lose to Ridge View
Two comebacks by South O’Brien were not enough to prevent a 9-8 loss to Ridge View June 7 at Holstein. The Raptors led 7-1 after three innings. Four runs by the visitors closed the gap to 7-5 but Ridge View scored two more times in the fifth. The Wolverines tallied twice in the sixth and once in the seventh to come up one run short.
Brock Riedemann had a 4-for-5 night at the plate. He singled in both the fifth and sixth innings and scored in the sixth. His pinch runner, Gabe Moermond, crossed the plate in the fifth. It was Brock’s double that drove in the Wolverines’ final run. Trevor Fiddelke went 3-for-5. He had singles in the second, fourth and fifth innings, scoring in the latter two.
Pete Bottjen was credited with three RBI’s, including one as the result of his third-inning base hit. Twice Boston Riedemann walked, stole second and scored. He also recorded a single in the fourth. Cole Tjossem had a single and an RBI. Mitch Enger was hit by a pitch in the fifth and singled in the sixth. Both times he scored.
The Wolverines had 11 hits in all.
Bottjen pitched all six innings. He allowed nine runs on 14 hits. Eight of the runs were earned. Bottjen walked three batters, struck out two and hit one.
