Season ends for Wolverine boys with third-place finish at Sectional Golf Tournament
We had a great day for hosting the Class 1A Boys Sectional tournament at Primghar Golf & CC. South O’Brien had a pretty good day but in the end we fell seven shots short of 2nd place and advancing to the district final at Spring Valley Golf Course in Livermore. We shot a 374, George-Little Rock shot a 367 and GTRA won with a 345.
Sophomore David Bottjen led the way for us with his best round of the year, shooting an 89 which was good for 8th place. Senior Brecken Coady finished 10th with a 91 and Senior Kaedon Louscher 12th with a 95. We felt pretty good coming in to today and we shot pretty good – GLR just shot a little better.
I’m proud of the way the guys worked and improved over the course of the season and am disappointed that it has to come to an end. We’re losing three great senior captains in Kaedon, Brecken and Traven Bahrenfuss. We won’t be able to replace those guys next year, but I’m very confident that sophomore David Bottjen and freshmen Derek Paulsen and Carter Halverson will make some big strides this summer. The future of the program is bright for the Wolverines.
