The American Legion Auxiliary, Chateau Thierry Post 36 will be offering poppies in Primghar during the week of May 24th, providing the opportunity to the public to honor the ‘ dead and assist the living by wearing a bright red poppy. The poppies arc assembled by disabled veterans in VA Hospitals and convalescent homes under the supervision of the American Legion Auxiliary. They help provide mental and physical therapy to fill empty hours, besides a nominal wage for the labor. Local units of the Auxiliary purchase the flowers and offer them to the public for a memorial. Our poppies this year were made at Iowa Soldiers Home at Marshalltown.

The Jaycees are hopeful that the “P “ will be used by all businesses, organizations and at community events as Primghar’s logo. Proceeds from the shirt-sales will go to the Jaycees, but the purpose is not a fund-raising project, but rather a plan to promote Primghar, Iowa. Be a booster-buy a shirt. Be a booster—use the logo!
