The forecast for Thursday, May 5 didn’t look great for but the rain held off and we had a pretty nice night to golf. South O’Brien lost to Remsen St. Mary’s 190-171 at Primghar Golf & Country Club.
Our three senior captains played in their last regular season meet tonight and I’m not only proud of the way they’ve worked on their game and become better golfers over their careers, but also how they have been great leaders for our team this season. Kaedon Louscher and Brecken Coady tied with a 45 and, after going to the card playoff, Kaedon earned a 4th place finish. Traven Bahrenfuss has been consistent all year and he finished with a 57.
Freshman Derek Paulsen fired a round of 48, sophomore David Bottjen shot 52 and freshman Carter Halverson carded a 57.
The Hawks’ Carter Schorg earned medalist honors with a round of 37.
The Wolverines finished an even 5-5 in War Eagle Conference duals. While the weather hasn’t been great, it’s been a fun regular season. We’re playing some good golf right now and hopefully we can ride that momentum into our conference tournament in Sioux Center on Monday and then our Sectional meet which we’re hosting on Wednesday at Primghar.
