Wolverine golf girls split with Sioux Central and HMS
The South O’Brien Girls Golf Team defeated Sioux Central 215-220 and lost a War Eagle Conference dual to host HMS 215-204 at a triangular held at Sanborn Golf and Country Club on April 29. The teams were lucky to get the meet in on such a cold, windy night, but they did play the last few holes in the rain.
Wolverine Samantha Wilbur shot 42, a personal best, to bring home medalist honors in both duals. Sam has really stepped up and become our team leader. She has fun and plays a really relaxed game. SO’ freshman Addison Brueggeman shot 56, one of her best rounds of the season, to take the 4th place medal in the dual with Sioux Central. Addison plays with a great attitude and is improving with her putter. It was great to see her earn another medal.
Junior Whitney Einck shot a 57, which kept her just out of the medals. Whitney had a couple of tough holes, but she is definitely an asset to our team. She has a lot to look forward to yet this season and seems to play better when the weather is cooperative. Sophomore Jinger Nieuwenhuis came in with 60, which helped the Wolverines defeat Sioux Central. Jinger has a great attitude as well and continues to improve. Sophomore Chloe Gergen shot a 65, which was a personal best for her. The Wolverines will complete regular season play on Thursday, May 5, at home when MMCRU and Remsen St. Mary’s come to Primghar.
