South O’Brien edged past Unity Christian 131-130 to capture second place at the Royal Coed Relays held April 29 at Marcus. Enjoying the home cooking, the host Royals were easy winners with 171 team points.
A pair of relays came in first for the Wolverines. The winners were the sprint medley team of Parker Struve, Pete Bottjen, Tsion Davis and Willie Conley and the shuttle hurdle unit of Sawyer Honkomp, Arturo Reyes, Boston Riedemann and Bottjen.
The Wolverines turned in runner-up finished in nine events. Placing second were Conley in both the high jump and the 400 meters and Keaton Sampson in the shot put and discus. Other seconds in the individual events went to Riedemann in the 110 hurdles, Reyes in the 400 hurdles and Cole Tjossem in the 100 meters. Second-place relays included the 4×100 of Struve, Hudson Oolman, Riedemann and Tjossem and the 4×200 of Struve, Oolman, Tsion Davis and Tjossem.
