The South O’Brien Girls Golf Team met Harris-Lake Park in a War Eagle Conference dual on Thursday, April 28, at the Primghar Golf Course. The Wolverines defeated HLP 212 to 224 and took 2 medals. It was a nice night with temps starting in the 70s, but the wind was definitely a factor as the night went on.
Medalist for the meet was Rylie Wittrock from HLP with a 47. Junior Samantha Wilbur from SO’ was runner-up medalist with a 49. Sam was hitting the ball off the tee really well tonight and is showing some real promise for the conference meet and postseason. Junior Whitney Einck from SO’ took the 3rd place medal with a 51. She improved tremendously from the meet earlier in the week at LeMars. She will also be a contender as we move on the postseason.
South O’Brien’s freshman Addison Brueggeman had a personal best with a 54 and just missed the medals by one stoke, taking 5th place. Sophomore Jinger Nieuwenhuis also had a personal best with a 58 and took 6th place. Sophomore Chloe Gergen took an 80, but she is showing improvement as she learns to hit different clubs.
We put four good scores together tonight and improved our team score tremendously to get the win. Hopefully, we’re turning the corner to shoot some of our best golf as we wrap up the regular season and move into the postseason.
