Sutherland Council Accepting Bids
Sutherland Council set May 2 at 7:00pm as the date and time for a public hearing for a 2021-22 budget amendment. Council also approved several letters of support as part of the O’Brien County Foundation Grant. Support will be given to Willoway, General N. B. Baker Library, Sutherland Park, Sutherland Police Department and Sutherland Fire and Ambulance.
Council has considered the use of COVID relief funds for several months. It approved, on Apri 4, to use those funds for the purchase and installation of new water meters.
The lease for the pasture on 1.5 acre pasture on 1st Street expires this year. Council is accepting sealed bids to lease the pasture for 3 years for May 2, 2022 at 7:00pm. Details of the pasture can be read online at www.sutherlandiowa.com. Sealed bids are due to the city clerk at city hall, 110 Ash Street no later than 4:00pm Thursday April 28, 2022.
Some details about the city sign were discussed. Mayor Pro Tem Chase Cox asked about 1 or 2-sided. General discussion about size, scroll, color and other details was had in planning for the next sign and to begin fundraising activities. Current anticipated cost for replacing the sign is $15-16,000. The city currently has approximately $7,000 for the sign replacement or repair.
