Average Paullina teacher salary set at $28,270, up 4.7% – At a special meeting Monday night, the Paullina school board approved the 1992-93 master contract with the Paullina Educaton Association. Although Paullina, Sutherland and Primghar will be involved in South O’Brien whole grade sharing next year, each district will continue to have its own master contract. The Paullina district employs a total of 27 teachers. Eight teachers have a bachelor’s degree, nine teachers are between a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree, and ten teachers have earned masters’ degrees. Salaries are based on qualifications and longevity. The average salary for the 27 teachers is $27,400. The total salary increase equals 4.7%. The base salary was raised from $19,870 to $20,000. The figures do not reflect supplemental pay for coaching or other extra duties.
Rural O’Brien County residents receive new addresses – Residents of O’Brien County may have already noticed the new green street signs at the Northeast corner of County intersections and green residence markers at the entrance drives of the rural residences. As soon as the individual residence numbers arrive, they will be put up on those markers. Shortly after April 1, 1992, rural residents will receive in the mail their “NEW ADDRESS” in O’Brien County. This notification will be on a bright yellow flyer with their new address posted on the outside as well as on the inside. DO NOT throw this away. This will be your new unique “locatable” address in O’Brien County.

Jaycees Urging Kids to Return Gun Clinic Slips – The members of the Paullina Jaycees are offering a free BB gun clinic soon and they need parents’ approval before the youngsters will be allowed to attend the clinic Permission slips were handed out in school classrooms and youngsters arc requested to return the approval certificates to their teachers The BB course is for all youngsters ages 8 through 14 The class will begin on Monday. April 15 and continues each Monday night for the next four weeks It will be held in the junior high gym beginning at 7 p.m.
Steve Puhrmann On NITC Honors List – Steve Puhrmann of Paullina has been named to the Winter Quarter Academic Honors List of Northwest Iowa Technical College at Sheldon. To qualify fot academic honors each student had to obtain a 3.25 or higher grade point average based on a total grade point possible of 4.00. Steve is enrolled in the auto mechanics program. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Puhrmann.

Sacred Concert To Be Held April 7 at Sheldon – Hilton Griswold, former pianist with the Blackwood Brothers Quartet, will be featured in a sacred concert Friday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Griswold1 will present special inspirational singing and playing. This Gospel Concert to be held at Parkview Assembly, 516 4th Ave., Sheldon. The public is cordially invited to attend and there will be no admission charge.
Jim Gnade’s Move To Mrs. Lenz Rental Home – Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gnade have moved to the rental home of Mrs. Wally Lenz at 214 N. Mickley. The Gnades have been living with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ebel, since returning from New Jersey.
Sgt Otte Awarded Joint Service Commendation – Sergeant First Class Evan E. Otte, son of Mr. Alfred W. Otte, Calumet, Iowa, was recently awarded the Joint Service Commendation Medal for outstanding meritorious service while serving as First Sergeant of the Oakland Army Base, Oakland) CA. The award was presented by Colonel Jack’C. Potter, Commanding Officer of the Sacramento Army Depot during Retreat Ceremonies.
