Baum-Harmon Memorial Hospital signs agreeent with Marian Health Center – In a move meant to enhance patient care at Primghar, Baum-Harmon Memorial Hospital board and administrators announced Monday, Dec. 30 that they have signed a-contractual agreement with Marian Health Center of Sioux City for management consulting.
Sanborn Clinic to be under care of BHMH and Marian Medical – After a meeting with the Sanborn Development Corporation late in the afternoon of December 30 it was announced by Baum Harmon Memorial Hospital that they in conjunction with Marian Medical Services will be managing the practice at Sanborn Medical Clinic in Sanborn, Iowa.
EASTER WHITE BREAKFAST – All women are invited to the Easter White Breakfast at the Primghar American Reformed Church on Saturday, April 18 at 9 a.m. Pastor Lucy Elrick will be our speaker.
FAIR BOARD TO MEET – The regular monthly meeting of the O’Brien County Fair Board will be held on Monday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Farm Bureau Building, Primghar.
Council approves tree replacement plan – The Primghar City Council approved a bid from Mark’s Lawn Service of Granville for the replacement of city park trees that had to be removed after last fall’s ice storm. Six 16 to 17 foot tall trees will be planted and staked at the cost of $210 each. The trees will have a one year guarantee.

State Large Group Contest here May 8 The Primghar Community School Music Dept. will host the State Large Group Music Contest o n Saturday, May 8. Band and chorus members and instructors from 23 schools will b e in Primghar that day. Persons interested in helping with the event are asked to attend the Music Booster meeting Monday, April 5 at 3:45 p.m. in the vocal music room. Those who cannot attend this meeting, but still wish to volunteer their services, are asked to contact Mr. Dighton or Mr. Haack.
EASTER EG G HUNT The annual Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by the Primghar Jaycees, will be held April 10 in t h e city park. Watch the Bell for details.
Elementary students in Reading Olympics – The Primghar Elementary 3rd, 4th and 5th graders participated in the March of Dimes Reading Olympics. Each child got pledges for each book they read and March 19, Ms. Karen Brubaker, Siouxland Chapter Executive Director for the March of Dimes, was at the school to present the students with their certificates and medals. There wa s a total of 34 students who participated in the Reading Olympics. They read 624 books and raised a total of $666.82 for the March of Dimes. Gold Medal winners, reading 20 or more books are : William A. Crowhurst, Stephanie Wittrock, Ed Farrell, Shannon M. Arrick, Ryan Sohn, Shane Mulder, Scott Geerdes, Derek Dubay, Jonathon Hintz, Kevin Kelleher, Amy Arrick, Paul Tonner, Scott Haack, Jeffery Grothaus, Jason Vander Pol, Brian Shea , Chay ‘LoVan,. Joey Leng, Charles Klink; Gary Morgan and Shelley Bare.
50 years ago – 1972
Learning much needed skills – The Driver’s Ed. students have been discussing with Mr. Trow the maintence of cars, how a car and its parts run, and then, viewing movies on crashes and safety devices. They have also been out driving to learn how to angle park, brush up on correct stops and turns, and then drive on the open road and in town.
Melvin drama class visits PHS – The Melvin drama class came to PHS Wednesday morning, March 15. They presented the selections that they have been working on the last nine weeks. Several duet acting groups, an after dinner speaker, vocal point actors, humorous actors, and a story teller presented the hour-long performance. The first period study hall students and the girls P. E. class enjoyed their acts. Our schools hope to continue this exchange of talent in the future.
