Lunchtime workshop seeks to encourage personal wellbeing in Sheldon
SHELDON, Iowa – “What About Me? My Wellbeing” is a four-week workshop series starting at noon on March 15 in Sheldon. The program is designed to help adults enhance their individual wellbeing and quality of life.
Through four, 45-minute hands-on sessions, participants will explore social and emotional wellbeing, financial wellbeing, physical wellbeing, and the importance of taking time for oneself. Lunch will also be provided with each session.
“Wellbeing is not something to achieve and check off a bucket list,” said Kate Stewart, O’Brien County Human Sciences Program Coordinator with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. “It is an ongoing journey that varies with each person. Our needs fluctuate throughout our life and circumstances.”
With more than its share of challenges, the last few years have affected many individuals’ physical, emotional, social, and financial wellbeing. This program is all about taking time out of one’s busy schedule to reflect and plan for the future.
“Are you meeting your own goals – whether that be financially, physically, socially or emotionally?” Stewart asks. “This workshop is not about us telling you what you should be doing, and we will not ask you to share any personal information. It’s about reflecting on your own individual goals and making strides toward them.”
The “What About Me? My Wellbeing” program is for adults at any stage of life.
“This program can be applied at any point in a person’s life,” Stewart said. “We’re going to learn some new information, but more importantly, you’re going to reflect and apply that information to your own life and goals.”
The program’s four sessions will be held from noon to 12:45 p.m. on March 15, 22, 29 and April 5 at the Sheldon Community Building Basement located at 416 9th Street in Sheldon. As noted above, lunch will be provided to all preregistered participants.
There is no fee to participate in the four-series program, but preregistration is required. Preregister online at https://go.iastate.edu/BF113A or contact Stewart at 712-957-5045 or kstewart@iastate.edu.
