Roger Dale Dau

Roger Dale Dau, 80, passed away peacefully at his home in LeMars on January 31, 2022, surrounded by family.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Burial with military honors will be in Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.
Roger was born in Primghar, Iowa in 1941, to Delbert and Vera Dau. He grew up in Calumet, Iowa and graduated from Calumet High School. After High School he entered the Army Reserves where he was stationed in Colorado Springs, CO. He later returned to Iowa where he resided in Remsen for a few years. He then moved to LeMars where he remained until his death.
Roger worked for the Plymouth County Secondary Roads Department for over 40 years. He was a CPR instructor for many years with the Red Cross. He spent many evenings as an umpire for area Softball games. He also performed the role of Santa to many organizations and families over the years in LeMars and nearby communities. In the summer months he loved to go fishing and camping, with Spirit Lake being one of his favorite spots. Roger was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, and a football or basketball season did not go by in which he was not dedicated to watching his team. He loved reminiscing about basketball and baseball and telling stories from his days as a player.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Dau: his children: Colleen Dau of Omaha, Tresa Clausen of Des Moines, Bruce Betcke of Le Mars, Suzanne Dau of Omaha, and Sheila Kirsch of Omaha; grandchildren: Latasha Dau (Colleen), Dalton Clausen (Tresa), Adrianne Reinert (Bruce), Evan Doupnik (Suzanne), Levinya Doupnik (Suzanne), Cyan Kirsch (Sheila), Avrie Kirsch (Sheila); 4 great grandchildren (Latasha); his sister-in-law, Sandra Dau; brother, Daniel Dau; sister, Barb Dau; brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd & Jan Dau; and several nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his Brother-In-Law Byron Epling, Sister-In Law Faline Dau, Brother Delmar Dau and parents Delbert and Vera Dau.
