Unity comes up big on the boards in win over Wolverine boys
Rebounding has been a strength for South O’Brien but it didn’t come to the forefront as the Wolverines visited Unity Christian. Unity finished with a 35-18 edge on the boards and finished off the Wolverines 58-39 December 17 at Orange City. The loss dropped South O’Brien to 1-2 in the War Eagle Conference and 5-2 in all games.
The Knights shot nearly 50 percent from the field with 25 baskets in 51 attempts. They were 5-of-16 from long range and 3-of-4 from the charity stripe. The Wolverines connected on 17 of their 43 field goal attempts for 40 percent. They went 4-of-13 from downtown and 1-of-6 at the foul line.
Jake Wallin topped South O’Brien with 19 points. Ben Woodall scored six points, Boston Riedemann five, Hudson Oolman, Jacob Van Lith, Sawyer Honkomp and David Bottjen two each and Pete Bottjen one. Oolman and Wallin each recorded three assists and six rebounds. Oolman, Van Lith and Riedemann had a steal apiece. The turnover totals showed The Wolverines with 11 and Unity with nine.
