Lulu Bernice Grauer

Marcus, Iowa – Lulu Bernice Grauer, 94, of Marcus, Iowa transferred to the church triumphant, paradise with Christ, on Friday, September 24, 2021, at Careage Hills in Cherokee, Iowa. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Marcus, Iowa. Rev. David Doellinger will officiate. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021, at the Earnest – Johnson Funeral Home in Marcus. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service scheduled at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the service on Saturday. Lulu Bernice Grauer was born on April 5, 1927, in Amherst Township near Cleghorn, Iowa as a gift of God to Fred L. and Anna M. (Specht) Dorr. She received the Kingdom of God by the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on October 23, 1927, in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. Lulu publicly confessed her faith in Christ at Trinity Lutheran Church near Marcus, Iowa on March 25, 1945. She attended school in Marcus, graduating from Marcus High School in 1946.

Lulu and Kendall E. Grauer were united in marriage on August 18, 1946, at Trinity Lutheran Church near Marcus. She and Kendall became the parents to three gifts from God, Timothy, Nancy and Joel. Along with caring for her family and helping Kendall with farming, Lulu worked as a Nurses’ Aid at The Villa in Cherokee for 40 years. She also worked with the pathologists at the Mental Health Institute in Cherokee. Lulu cherished her vocation in life as a daughter, wife, mother and grandmother.

An active and devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lulu cherished her faith and church family. Her love for genealogy prompted her to do a great deal of family research following her first trip to Germany.

Grateful to have shared her life is her son and his wife, Joel and Sharon Grauer of Silver City, IA; her daughter and her husband, Nancy and Mike Larsen of Polk, City, IA; a daughter-in-law, Julia Grauer of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Jennifer (Josh Renkin) Grauer, Jochen (Sarah Kopicky) Grauer, Lisa (Brooks) Witter, Kevin Larsen, Craig (Lori) Larsen, Melissa (Teddy) Allmon, Rosella (Ed) Jackson, Lyndsey (Andy) Greuniesen; greatgrandchildren, Adey Gene, Ferran, Caleb, Graycee, Charlotte, Mackenzie, Brooklyn, Michael, Nicholas (Meliisa), Clayton, Kylie, Dennis, Isaac, Chloe, Vivian, Caleb, Jacob, Braydon, Stefany; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kendall on March 16, 2002; a son, Timothy; a sister; Eunice Tschampl; and brothers, Harold, Melvin, Everett, Wesley and Cecil.
